Master Bathroom Renovation | 5 Easy steps to adding the finishing touches

Have you ever struggled with a space and felt like it wasn’t finished? The construction is done and the room is “complete” but there is something missing.

Just like jewelry and accessories can make or break your outfit, the accessories in your room complete and elevate your room.

5 Easy steps to adding the finishing touches in your master bathroom

Step #1- Add the finishing touches by picking your focal point

Do you struggle to know where to start? get overwhelmed by the decisions and give up?

After a big renovation project or a move into a new home, it can seem overwhelming to know where to start to pull the rooms accessories together. Start with finding something you love - perhaps it’s artwork or a fabric that makes you happy. Or perhaps a colour that you want to use.

In this bathroom, I knew I wanted to bring in some colour to balance the neutral colour scheme. I found a really great rug with multiple colours and used that as my jumping off point. .

Step #2 - add the finishing touches by varying the heights of objects

Does your room feel a little one dimensional?

Break things up a little by adding height and variety.

In this bathroom, I brought in a table to perch candles, a glass a wine, a good book while soaking in the tub. A basket to store towels tucks in below and fun driftwood pieces add extra height. I also scooped up this magnificent plant of the clients (which I initially thought was fake to be honest - it looks so perfect) and put it in a planter with a bit of height.

Step #3 - Go ahead and the finishes

do you really think everything needs to match?

So often I hear people say “I can’t add in brass or gold because all my fixtures are chrome”. I say - why not? Mixing in different metals and wood tones is what will make a room dynamic and interesting. If you don’t want to mix different finishes into your permanent fixtures such as cabinets and plumbing fixtures, your accessories are a perfect way to bring in trendier items.

Step #4 - switch out the ugly generic containers for something pretty

nothing kills the vibe in a bathroom more than a generic soap pump or shampoo bottle.

Nobody needs to see your giant bottle of bubbly bath - decant it into a pretty jar. Like these epsom salts in a glass vase. Kept handy right where you need them, but stylish and pretty. And a hand soap which not only looks great but smells divine.

Step #5 - Add some comfort factor

do you love taking long decadent soaks in your bathtub? Well - make sure you surround yourself with comfort.

Add candles and fresh flowers (for real - they make you feel better!!) Some artwork that you love or something that makes you happy to look at. Creating a space that cocoons you.

There, doesn’t that feel better? You’ve followed my five easy steps to adding the finishing touches to your ensuite and now your room is complete an oasis that you love walking in to.
