How To Bring Spring Into Your Home

After what has got to be the longest, coldest winter ever, I am itching to see flowers and colour and bright punches of colour everywhere.  Spring is the season of new beginnings and growth so people often want to freshen up their spaces.  Want to learn my top 5 tips for ways to bring spring into your home (no matter what the season) ?  Well here they are:

Tip #1: Add wallpaper to bring spring into your home

After a season of dark skies and white snow, nothing says spring more than fresh, pink blossoms.  This Apple Blossom wallpaper mural will make your home feel like perpetual spring.

Tip #2: Change out a light fixture to bring spring into your home

Never under estimate the impact a new light fixture will have. So many people don't bother with their light fixtures, I can walk into a home and think - oh ya you still have the builder's standard lighting package that wasn't even stylish when it was installed 15 years ago.  Lights can be one of the quickest, and easiest ways to change the feel of a space and can have the biggest impact.

Tip# 3: Change out your bedding and cushions to bring spring into your home

Looking for a less permanent way to bring spring into your home.  Change out your duvet cover and decorative toss cushions.  Pick lighter brigther colours and fabrics with more delicate weaves and textures.  You'l'' be amazed at how a few tweeks can freshen up your bedroom.

Tip #4: Add in a rattan chair to bring spring into your home

Rattan and wicker have seen a resurgence lately.  People are looking to more natural materials and we have seen rattan popping up in interiors everywhere.  Ikea has introduced this seriously stylish chair and it is perfect for spring!

Tip #5: Add proper window coverings to bring spring into your home

You say what?  Why do I want to cover up my windows when I want to see outside and see the flowers bloom.  The answer is quite simply - when you have a beam of sunlight shining in your face - you can't see outside, because your eyes are going to be closed silly.

Hunter Douglas has taken that problem away by offering great options for you.  One that I love is one of their latest innovations, Silhouette ClearView™ Shadings.   Maximize your view with a unique combination of front and back sheers for superior view-through.  Basically the sheers are black which allow your eye to travel through the shade - thus seeing the view beyond while filtering harsh light and diffusing it further into the room with their patented "s-shaped" vanes.
